Scholarships
Early in the
1960’s, Soroptimist International of Seaford, Inc. recognized a
need in the community for financial assistance for students who
planned post secondary education. In 1964, the organization
awarded its first scholarship to a nursing student. In 1965, a
Soroptimist International of Seaford, Inc. Scholarship Fund was
established to support the desire to provide ongoing
scholarships to Sussex County students. Since 1973, Soroptimist
International of Seaford, Inc. has awarded scholarships annually
to selected high school seniors.
Continuing this tradition, Soroptimist International of Seaford,
Inc. will award scholarships to deserving high school seniors in
May.
Scholarships are
available to students living in Sussex County Delaware who
attend Delmar, Laurel, Seaford, Sussex Central, Sussex
Technical, and Woodbridge High Schools. Applications for the Soroptimist International of Seaford, Inc. Scholarships
will be available in the respective Guidance Offices in February.
The Scholarship Committee consisting of dedicated members will
review the applications submitted and evaluate them based on
school and community service, academic success, and financial
need. Ten candidates will be selected from the applications
submitted and personal interviews will be conducted by the
Scholarship Committee members to determine recipients.
